Shaun Nemorin on the Social Work Spotlight Podcast

On 30 October 2021, STARTTS School Liaison Team Leader, Shaun Nemorin, was interviewed by Yasmine McKee-Wright on the Social Work Spotlight podcast. Shaun spoke about what drew him to the social work profession after initially studying psychology and discussed how social work principles have influenced his work in several international settings, remote Aboriginal communities and at STARTTS. He also discusses the STARTTS School Liaison Program and explains how STARTTS works in collaboration with schools to support the healing and resettlement of students with refugee experience. Finally, Shaun explains how Australia’s asylum seeker policy and the psychological impact of immigration detention on his clients are linked to the advocacy and human rights focus of his approach to social work.
